A Day at PNS
8:30-9:00 Arrival & Question of the Day
Children are warmly welcomed by a teacher at arrival. Each day begins with a simple “Question of the Day” that sparks curiosity, conversation, and sets the tone for learning.
8:30-10:00 Free Play & Exploration
Children choose from a variety of thoughtfully prepared activities that support different areas of development, including:
Art & creative expression
Pre-literacy & fine-motor skills
Early math & building
Sensory play (play dough, sand, water)
Children are free to move between activities, follow their interests, and engage in imaginative play. Indoor and outdoor spaces are open whenever possible, allowing children to flow naturally between environments.
10:00-10:30 Snack Time
Snack is prepared and served by teachers or parent helpers. Children practice independence by pouring their own water and taking responsibility for their cups.
10:30-11:40 Free Play, Outdoor Time & Enrichment
Free play continues with new activities introduced. Teachers may lead small group experiences such as storytelling, music, movement, or dramatic play.
Special visitors regularly enrich the program, including yoga, music, librarian visits, and special readers.
11:40–12:00 Cleanup & Shoe Time
Children participate in cleaning up their classroom and getting ready for the end of the day. Each child then chooses a book and enjoys quiet reading time.
12:00–12:10 Circle Time
Songs, stories, and group discussions bring the morning together. Circle time often supports social skills, emotional learning, and conflict resolution in creative ways.
12:10–12:30 Lunch
Children wash hands, unpack their lunches, and eat together with teacher support.
12:30–1:00 | Dismissal & Outdoor Play
The school day officially ends at 12:30. Families are welcome to stay and enjoy outdoor play until 1:00.
Optional Extended Day | 12:30–3:00
An optional extended-day program is available, offering quiet time followed by relaxed activities with a PNS teacher. Families may enroll in advance or join on a drop-in basis if space allows.
